Our Story: Growing Leaders, Inspiring Change
Epic Bloom was founded in 2010 with a simple yet powerful vision: to create spaces where young people could find their voices, overcome challenges, and develop the confidence to make a positive difference in their schools and communities.
We are a Christian organization, and our faith in Jesus Christ is at the heart of our mission. We believe in His life-changing power and in the hope, purpose, and new possibilities He offers. We seek to reflect Christ’s love through encouragement, mentorship, service, and care for each person we serve.
Even our name, Epic Bloom, was inspired by a student—a reflection of our belief that every young person has the potential to achieve greatness when surrounded by encouragement, opportunity, and the support of family and community.
Since the beginning, our work has been rooted in nurturing creativity, cultivating leadership, and inspiring a spirit of service that reaches beyond the classroom.
Rooted in Community, Growing in Impact
Our journey has been shaped by a commitment to meeting people where they are and creating opportunities for growth, connection, and meaningful change.
Among our earliest initiatives was a prison ministry launched in 2010 through letters of encouragement and personal outreach to incarcerated men and women. What began through correspondence eventually grew into in-person ministry and group gatherings at San Quentin State Prison, along with regular visits to Sacramento County Jail. Continuing through 2014, this outreach reflected our belief in the dignity, potential, and capacity for transformation within every individual.
In 2011, we began working with local high schools, including Luther Burbank, John F. Kennedy, Grant High School, and Valley High School, offering leadership workshops, mentorship, and after-school support.
By 2014, our partnership with Sacramento City Unified School District led to the launch of the Bloom Leadership Program (BLP), expanding opportunities for students to discover their strengths, develop their voices, and put their leadership into action.
As our communities faced new challenges, we continued to adapt. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we transitioned to virtual programming, maintaining connections with students and families while creating opportunities for young people to continue learning, growing, and being heard.
Through every season, our faith and a steadfast belief in people’s capacity for growth have guided our work. We believe every person can grow, lead, and make a meaningful difference, and we hold hope for the change Christ can bring in each life.
Looking Ahead
Our vision extends beyond today's programs. We remain committed to creating opportunities that empower young people, strengthen communities, and inspire generations of purpose-driven leaders.
As we look toward the future, we envision expanding our reach through partnerships with juvenile justice facilities, creating pathways for justice-involved youth to experience mentorship, leadership development, personal growth, and meaningful connection.
We also hope to develop initiatives centered on mental wellness and emotional resilience, equipping young people with tools to navigate life's challenges, build healthy relationships, and cultivate a stronger sense of identity, purpose, and belonging.
Central to our long-term vision is the establishment of the Epic Bloom International Academy of Leadership—a place where young people can gain the knowledge, confidence, and experiences to lead with purpose and make a lasting impact.
Through these efforts, we hope to create spaces where every young person, regardless of their circumstances, has the opportunity to be seen, supported, and
empowered to thrive.
